All His Benefits

DAY 1 OF 6

Psalm 103:2 NKJV
“Bless the Lord, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits:”

The psalmist urges us to rejoice in the Lord by daily remembering all His benefits (Psalm 68:19). Unlike the benefits under the Old Testament, the psalmist gives us a profound revelation and a glimpse of the blessings God’s people would enjoy in the New Testament as a result of Christ’s finished work.

Sadly, many believers in Christ remain unaware that this abundant grace is already available to us as part of our salvation package. Imagine struggling through life’s difficulties only to later discover that we could have been spared many of them because Christ has truly redeemed us from them through the cross. Not knowing the benefits we have in Christ leads to misdirected faith and unnecessary hardship.

In one of my previous jobs as a customer service representative, during my first year I completely missed out on one of the company’s benefits. The company offered every employee a paid day off on their birthday. As it turned out, I worked on my birthday without knowing about this perk. It was a real shame because that day the incoming call volume was overwhelming, and my workload was heavier than any other day. Had I known, I could have celebrated my birthday, enjoyed the day off with my family, and improved my work-life balance. But I missed it.

In the same way, it is vital that we know our full inheritance—the benefits we have in Christ—so we can enjoy God’s unearned favors in our lives. Over the next five days, we will take a brief look at the benefits of the cross through Psalm 103:2-5. By the end, it will move us to bless the Lord as we behold the beauty of His Son and His finished work.

Reflection: How do you rejoice in the Lord each day? How often do you recall God’s tender mercies and amazing grace in your heart and mind? Do you see Jesus lavishing you with His benefits daily, or do you see a “Jesus” who burdens you with trials and challenges each day?

Daily Application: Read Psalm 103:2-5 and prepare your heart to receive. The Lord desires to expand your revelation of Christ’s finished work so you may grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord. Pray this prayer: “Father, I rejoice in Your Son Jesus for all He has provided me through the cross. Open my eyes to see and experience Your benefits every day. Amen.
