Passion Begins With God

Scripture:
Psalm 63:1 (TLB) O God, my God! How I search for you! How I thirst for you in this parched and weary land where there is no water. How I long to find you!

Reflection:
Passion for the 5G Life (God, Grow, Gather, Go, Give) always begins with God. David writes this psalm while hiding in the wilderness. Yet his greatest hunger is not safety, comfort, or answers; it is God Himself. Passion is revealed by what we thirst for when life is dry. David’s longing shows us that devotion is driven by desire, not convenience. Love for God turns seeking Him from obligation into a pursuit. In barren seasons, passion keeps faith alive because it anchors the soul to God’s presence rather than circumstances. Rick Warren teaches that we are as close to God as we choose to be, reminding us that desire directs proximity. Prayer becomes easier when love leads, worship becomes natural when longing is genuine, and consistency flows from desire. The 5G Life organizes love into rhythms, and passion for God fuels every other rhythm. When God is first, growth has direction, community has depth, mission has courage, and generosity has meaning.

Application:
Begin each day this week by intentionally seeking God before seeking solutions. Set aside a consistent time and quiet place to pray, not because you are looking for something but primarily because you want God. Choose worship music that helps redirect your focus toward God’s presence. Limit digital noise so you are not crowded out by constant input. End each day by thanking God for moments you sensed His nearness.
