The Fruit of Transformation (One)

DAY 1 OF 5

Day 1: Believing vs. Following

Many people in the church today confuse belief with discipleship. They think that because they prayed a prayer at an altar or raised their hand at a youth camp, they've arrived at the finish line. But Scripture paints a very different picture. Belief is not the destination-it's the starting point. James tells us that even demons believe in God, yet they tremble and their belief produces no fruit, no transformation, no surrender. Belief without action is dead faith.

If Christianity and salvation were only about getting to heaven, then why did Jesus teach so much about discipleship, obedience, sanctification, holiness, and transformation?

Following Jesus means something far deeper than intellectual agreement. It means His way becomes your default setting. It means when you're faced with a decision, your first instinct isn't "What do I want?" but "What does God want?" Following is lived alignment-it's allowing the truth of Scripture to reshape how you think, speak, act, and love. Many believe in Christ, but their lives show no noticeable difference from the world around them. They've accepted Jesus as Savior but never made Him Lord.

The question isn't whether you believe Jesus exists or even that He died for your sins. The question is: Are you following Him? Is there evidence in your daily life that you belong to Him? Does your calendar reflect His priorities? Do your relationships look different because of His love? Does your character bear the marks of His transformation? Belief is the seed, but following is the fruit. And Jesus said clearly: "By their fruit you will recognize them."

Reflect:

- Is there a gap between what I say I believe and how I actually live?

- What would it look like for me to move from belief to true following this week?
