The Final Steps - Holy Week ReflectionsSample

Palm Sunday
Jesus enters Jerusalem with crowds waving palm branches, and welcoming the King (Luke 19:28-40). This day reminds us that God’s Kingdom often arrives in ways we do not fully understand, and His plans are far greater than our expectations. Jesus demonstrates humility and purpose by riding on a colt rather than a war horse, showing that His reign is one of peace, service, and sacrifice rather than power and domination.
In our lives today, we may be tempted to measure success, influence, or significance by the world’s standards. Palm Sunday reminds us that God’s ways are higher, often turning worldly values upside down. As we welcome Jesus as King, we are reminded that His ultimate purpose was to come for our sins, to bear the weight of our wrongdoing, and to be a sacrifice and our Saviour.
Celebrating Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem is not just a historical remembrance; it is an invitation to recognise Him as King in our hearts and lives. Kingdom living today means welcoming Jesus in our decisions, actions, and relationships, allowing Him to lead with humility, love, and truth.
As we prepare for the coming week, His journey toward the cross invites us to reflect on our priorities, intentions, and willingness to follow faithfully. Each act of obedience, each choice to serve, and each step of faith aligns our lives with God’s purposes and prepares us to experience the fullness of His Kingdom.
Reflections
- How am I welcoming Jesus into my life today?
- Are there choices or priorities I need to surrender to align more fully with God’s purposes?
- How can I actively prepare my heart to experience the fullness of His last days?
Prayer
Lord Jesus, I welcome You as King into my heart and life. Help me to follow Your ways, not the world’s, and to lead with humility, love, and service. Show me the areas where I need to surrender control, and give me the courage to obey Your guidance each day. As we begin Holy Week, reflecting on Your journey to the cross, I open my heart to the new life and new hope You want to release in me. Amen.
